Embarking on a New Life Journey -- Siri Neel Kaur
When you talk to Siri Neel Kaur, her voice immediately puts you at ease. It has both the gentle
sweetness of a young mother soothing her child to sleep with a lullaby and the age-old wisdom of
a grandmother telling her grandchild an enchanting bedtime story. Both are true, actually, of the
60-year-old mother, new grandmother, yoga instructor, and energy healer. "I am so excited! My
grandson was born in October and he is simply amazing! I can't wait to see him again!" she exclaims
as she explains that later in the afternoon a potential buyer is scheduled to come and look at the
home she shares with her husband in New Cumberland, PA. And excited she should be! Siri Neel is
about to embark on another journey- one that will take her far from her Pennsylvania roots and
across the country to New Mexico.
"It's scary, yet it feels right." Says Siri Neel, her voice soft and contemplating. "I've discussed
this move in great detail with Sharon, and she's been extremely supportive through it all. She's
helped me realize that even though there's a sense of unknown, it's OK." She is speaking of long
time friend and life coach, Sharon Marquart. Siri Neel met Sharon many years ago through a mutual
friend, while she was going through a divorce. "I made a list of successful women I wanted to meet-
and she was one of those women. I sensed something in her that made me want to know more." The two
later met again at a Halloween party. "We talked and it just reinforced what I had been thinking-
Sharon had an aura and a big presence energetically - something very gentle yet powerful. I sensed
that we not only would become friends, but that she could also help me through my life's journey.
And I was right."
In the small community of south-central Pennsylvania their paths crossed many times, each time Siri
Neel observed Sharon's success at creating positive change. Then Sharon began attending some of her
yoga classes "Sharon had been through a traumatic time after suffering the loss of her partner, and
I was so empowered by how she was able to transform her life's pain, reframe it, and help others.
She was going through tremendous pain herself, yet she was able to embrace every emotion and still
have the ability to extend herself to others. It only reinforced my original thought that this was
someone I wanted to incorporate into my life." The two became friends. "We would sit and talk and
mirror each other's thoughts. She has a wonderful way of taking abstract thoughts and putting them
in everyday terms that make sense and everything just clicks. I have a dear friend who lives in
Arizona who has many physical challenges and requires a lot of assistance both from a physical and
financial aspect. I decided that perhaps a benefit concert held in her honor would be an excellent
way to help defer some of the costs. I had no idea how I was going to go about it or where to begin.
Sharon helped me organize, prioritize, plan, and execute my thoughts and the event turned out to be
a huge success! It was literally "music to my ears!" After that, I knew I could do anything! In fact,
we're in the process of planning the next concert now."
It was after the success of the concert that Siri Neel decided to attend more coaching sessions.
"I felt coaching paralleled what I was doing professionally, with my yoga instruction and energy
healing and wanted to learn how to incorporate some of these methods into my teachings so I could
pass it onto my clients. Sharon offered a five coaching session special so I hired her as my Life
Coach. I felt it was the right time to embark on a journey that would enhance both my personal and
professional lives. It was time for my next step."
True to form, Siri Neel decided her next big step would be relocating to New Mexico, where she
could be with her daughter, son-in-law, new grandson and friends she had met years before. "In 1974,
I had the opportunity to drive cross country and the minute I arrived in New Mexico, I was
immediately enamored with the sky, the land, the sunshine, the colors, - all of it. I continued
to travel there at least once a year until about ten years ago, when I began making the journey
three or four times a year. With my daughter and her family in New Mexico and my son about to
graduate from college and start his life in Washington, DC, I told my husband "July 2007 is the
time to move!" Of course I had no idea how I was going to make all this happen, Sharon was able
to help me find clarity and put my vision into reality-and I'm well on my way!" As her voice rises
and falls with emotion that range from happiness, passion and exuberance to quiet contemplation,
one can't help but smile and share her joy.
