YES! stands for You Embracing Spirit!
In the LOGO, notice the symbol for the "Y" is a heart.
When you embrace Spirit - your heart is opened!
Soulful Storyteller -- Cathy Broadus
“I’m really an old hippy.” chuckles Cathy Broadus, her voice
warm with laughter and enthusiasm. Not old in years, but more in a sense of
spirit. “I just enjoy this journey we’re on that we call life!” she exclaims.
Always a storyteller, it comes as no surprise Cathy fell in love with the
theater during her childhood and adolescent years. “Everything was a stage
to me- ready to be built, designed, and produced.” However at that time her
family felt she should concentrate on getting a “real job.” And she did.
Several, in fact. Although it wasn’t the dream she had for herself, her
attitude was to make a positive, profitable “production” out of every project.
“I was always starting businesses- creating new things. It was like each
new project was a set for me to design and a production for me to direct.”
Cathy’s ventures included, among other things, opening a record store and a
bar in Philadelphia. “I loved being able to watch my projects grow from the
ground up.” Eventually, Cathy decided that while fulfilling to a certain
degree, they weren’t satisfying her soul. “I didn’t like where I was and needed
to do something to spread my wings.”
Metaphysics and Esoterics had always been a part of Cathy’s
life. “I practiced numerology for years and found it to be a very integral part
of my life.” She decided to take it to another level and enrolled at the York
School of Esoteric Studies where she began taking classes. Cathy also drew on
her earlier theater experience and became a member of the Susquehanna
Storyteller’s Guild where she writes and presents original stories. “We
gather several times a year to share our stories with the public. It’s like
second nature to me- as if I found a calling. I’ve always loved mythology,
so often times my stories are about mythical beings or female heroines and
how the whole hero’s journey relates to mine and others’ lives.” Cathy’s
stories are well received and she decided there must be a way to combine her
love of metaphysics, esoterics and the theater and make it her life’s path.
She graduated and received her ordination in June of this year. But her
journey had only just begun. “This was just the tip of the iceberg! I had
all this information and couldn’t wait to start putting it to use!”
Cathy first met Sharon Marquart several years ago when she
was a member of Unity Church. “At that time, our relationship hadn’t developed
and she was an acquaintance.” Cathy reconnected with Sharon last summer at the
annual “Celebration of Life” expo in York. “I walked in and Sharon had a booth
right in front- it was colorful and just radiated positive energy. I was
immediately drawn to Sharon’s “Living at YES” slogan and thought to myself,
wow, that’s a really strong and uplifting message. I decided I wanted to learn
more so I got a t-shirt and signed up for individual coaching sessions with
her.” In addition to personal coaching, Cathy also participates in Sharon’s
“Embrace Your Magnificent Self” group; a group of participants led by Sharon
who meet once a month for a year and support each other in visualizing,
planning and obtaining personal goals. Sharon is currently coaching Cathy on
the direction and dynamics of how to begin to build her dream of helping
others through her unique storytelling techniques and applying her esoteric
and metaphysic skills to turn them into a profession. “Sharon had a sense of
direction and intuitiveness that was different from anyone else I had worked
with in the past. It was refreshing.”
It wasn’t long before the name “Soul Stories” came to Cathy
and her new business began to emerge and take shape. Soul Stories involves an
individual or group of individuals using tarot cards as “Soul Cards,” to tell
their life stories. The cards are used for helping people become aware of
their soul’s journey and how stories impact their lives. This in turn helps
them live a more purposeful life in everyday circumstances. “I enjoy watching
people evolve and helping them discover their true inner self.” In addition to
Soul Stories, Cathy also offers sessions on Numerology (the study of how
certain numbers relate to a person’s life), is an ordained minister and life
coach and incorporates NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) into her sessions.
NPL involves discovering how a person processes information and how they go
about obtaining goals. “I help people better connect with their lives by
providing the foundation from which they build on. I guess after all these
years I’m still building sets, working with new characters and performing-
only this time it’s so much more rewarding!”
